West Unity Police Department
The Village of West Unity Police
Department serves the village in many ways, some of
which include enforcing criminal laws, traffic laws, and
assisting citizens. The Police Department also assists
in community activities such as the Unity Days Parade,
Fall Fest, Trick-or-Treat, and the Christmas Parade
activities.
The Chief of Police is J.R. Jones who has served as a
fulltime police officer since 2002. Chief Jones was
appointed to the position of Chief of Police in 2008.
Chief Jones feels it is important to maintain a good
working relationship with the citizens of West Unity.
Police staffing includes five fulltime officers along
with part-time officers and auxiliary positions. Chief
Jones worked in conjunction with Millcreek-West Unity
Hilltop School to establish a fulltime School Resource
Officer position in 2013. Currently Lieutenant Phil Fry
and Sergeant Homer Chapa Jr. share the S.R.O. duties.
Both officers work hard maintaining the functions of the
position within the school district.
